BUILD A RECORD BEFORE ASKING FOR A BIGGER OFFICE

Ambition is not the problem.
The question is:
What have you already done with the responsibility you had?
Before asking people to promote you politically, build a record they can examine.
If you were a community leader, what changed?
If you were an MCA, what did you push for?
If you were an MP, what did you contribute in Parliament and in your constituency?
If you held a party position, what did you build?
If you have never held office, what useful work have you already done in your community?
Politics should not be only about the next seat.
It should also be about the evidence you leave behind.
A serious aspirant should always be able to answer:
What problem did I help solve?
What institution did I strengthen?
What opportunity did I help create?
What can people point to and say, “this improved because of your leadership”?
Titles change.
Campaign slogans disappear.
Posters come down.
But a record remains.
Before asking voters for a bigger responsibility, give them something they can measure from the responsibility you already had.
That is how political credibility is built over time.
