As campaigns begin to take shape, citizens deserve a public conversation focused on the issues that affect daily life\u2014not personalities and slogans alone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our question to Kenyans is simple:<\/strong> What is the one issue every candidate must address clearly before asking for your vote?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cost of living<\/strong> \u2014 food prices, rent, transport and household bills<\/li>\n<li><strong>Youth jobs<\/strong> \u2014 employment, skills, internships and support for enterprise<\/li>\n<li><strong>Healthcare<\/strong> \u2014 affordable, dependable treatment and access to medicine<\/li>\n<li><strong>Education<\/strong> \u2014 school funding, teachers, fees and opportunities after graduation<\/li>\n<li><strong>Corruption and accountability<\/strong> \u2014 responsible use of public money and measurable delivery<\/li>\n<li><strong>Security<\/strong> \u2014 safer communities and professional, accountable policing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>From campaign promises to measurable plans<\/h2>\n<p>Every candidate should explain what they intend to do, how it will be funded, when citizens should expect results and how progress will be measured. A useful campaign promise should be specific enough for the public to track after the election.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iebc.or.ke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission<\/a> is encouraging Kenyans to prepare early and register as voters. The election period is an opportunity for citizens to define the agenda before candidates define it for them.<\/p>\n<h2>Why these issues matter now<\/h2>\n<p>Cost of living and public spending remain central to household conversations. Kenya\u2019s 2026\/27 budget documents are publicly available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.treasury.go.ke\/budget-books\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Treasury<\/a>, giving citizens a basis for asking where money is allocated and what results should follow.<\/p>\n<p>Youth employment is equally urgent. A recently announced programme aims to connect young Kenyans with internships, entrepreneurship training and workplace skills.
